From CORPORATE to CHIC

Ladies, one of our biggest challenges as young women is learning how to balance our professional and personal life. An episode of Tyra confirmed exactly what we have realized for quite a while now. When we work all day, and then are invited out for drinks or dinner with our friends, some days there is little time to make that smooth transition. The CHARMED ONES have decided to challenge ourselves to choosing attire that can be worn both at work and with minor adjustments, be great for an after work social setting. We are showing that it is in fact possible to go from CORPORATE to CHIC in about 10 minutes.

WHAT ASHLEY IS WEARING........
CLOTHES: DRESS, WEDGES AND PUMPS FROM CHARLOTTE RUSSE, CROP TOP FROM RAINBOW, BELT BY FOREVER21.COM

MAKEUP: Mac studio tinted moisturizer, Mac mineralized skin finish, dream matte mousse concealer, Benefit's highbeam highlighting brow and cheekbones, Make me blush bronzer, Nars blush, Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara, Loreal telescopic liquid liner.

CORPORATE:
This straight pencil dress is perfect for the workplace. It comes just above the knee and is very chic and flattering to a woman's curves. The sheer crop top makes it look like a skirt. The top is loose and comfortable but has a draw string to make it as form fitting as you would like it. The peep toe wedges add flair. Finish the look a charm bracelet, stud earrings and a simple necklace.

THE TRANSITION

CHIC:
Start by removing the sheer crop top. This will allow you to take advantage of the low neckline and spaghetti straps revealing more skin for the more casual look. Adding the leopard print thin belt adds pattern to an otherwise simple black dress. Replacing the peep toe wedges with round toe high heel pumps gives the illusion of longer legs. This will make the dress appear a little shorter for that CHIC and stylish after hour look. A wide gold bangle will compliment the belt and complete the outfit.

WHAT KIA IS WEARING.....
CLOTHES:
SHIRT BY FOREVER21.COM, SKIRT BY H&M, CARDIGAN BY GAP, SHOES BY ALDO
CLUTCH BAG BY NY BOUTIQUE IN MIDTOWN MANHATTAN

MAKEUP:
MAC MINERAL FINISHER, COASTAL SCENTS EYESHADOW, SEPHORA BLUSH, MAYBELLINE BIG BRUSH LASH BLAST MASCARA, VICTORIA SECRET LIP GLOSS AND MAYBELLINE LIPSTICK.

CORPORATE :
The pink, black and blue animal print top can be layered under a cardigan and give a ruffle look. For the corporate look take advantage of the ability to let the top layer of the shirt spill over a buttoned black cardigan. The grey pencil skirt is 85% spandex with a really long waist. When worn at its full length, it falls right above the knee. Peep toe pumps work well in the summer time. Polish the look off with classy accessories, studs and pearls are perfect for the workplace.

THE TRANSITION

CHIC:
First thing's first...LOSE THE CARDIGAN. Once that's gone it is apparent that shirt is a halter, showing off a little skin. The top layer posing as ruffles can be spread out, exposing a little cleavage (cleavage can be tasteful when done right, and tiny girls can pull of off as well with Victoria's Secret Miraculous bra).
The grey full length pencil skirt with the long waist can be folded on the top. (the way it was seemingly meant to be worn to begin with) This shortens the skirt showing a little more leg. Adding a clutch bag will complete the look.

WHAT TAS IS WEARING.........
CLOTHES:
SHIRT by MILEY CYRUS at MACY'S, SLACKS by BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY, SHORTS BY STRAWBERRY, SHOES by PAYLESS AND CHARLOTTE RUSSE.

MAKEUP:
COVER GIRL MINERAL FINISHER, COASTAL SCENTS EYESHADOW (BROWN, TAN, AND GOLD), MAYBELLINE GEL EYELINER, MAYBELLINE GREAT LASH MASCARA, VICTORIA SECRET LIP GLOSS.

CORPORATE:

Dark purple leopard print on light purple sheer blouse peeps out of the black cotton cardigan to add some color to this corporate look. The flare leg pin striped slacks are perfect for days when you want to dress professionally. to complete this look , add diamond studded earrings and a few pearl bracelets. Shiny Patent leather kitten heels will help this plain look POP!

THE TRANSITION

CHIC:
Automatically subtract the black Cardigan from your outfit. Replace grey flare pin stripped slacks with very mini "short" shorts and the shiny Patent leather kitten heels for regular leather pumps with a few inches added to the heel. Trading pearl bracelets for gem studded bangles will allow you to "shine" during night life!

CHARMED GIRL MAKE UP DISCLOSURE:
For makeup on a workday: If you choose little or no makeup at work usually that is completely okay. Often a moisturizer and lip gloss will do the trick. Carry your makeup essentials and cosmetics to work so you will be able to freshen up and quickly transition your makeup from day to night.

THESE TRANSITIONS WERE DESIGNED TO BE DONE IN 10 MINS LADIES...remember what you applied to you face earlier in the day was done with the mindset that you would only be intending to freshen up later in the day. Under normal circumstances, starting from scratch this may take longer.
HERE IS A QUICK VIDEO TUTORIAL ON HOW TO TAKE YOUR EYE MAKE UP FROM SIMPLE TO A SMOKEY EYE IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. NO BRUSHES NEEDED!!! IT IS A VERY SIMPLE LOOK AND CAN BE ACHIEVED USING ANY QUAD OR TRIO OF CONTAINING THOSE LITTLE SPONGE TIP APPLICATORSS. YOU CAN FIND THESE AT YOUR LOCAL DRUG STORES. THE COLORS USED IN THE VIDEO CAN ALWAYS BE SUBSTITUTED FOR LIGHTER COLORS; FOR EXAMPLE INSTEAD OF A BLACK SMOKEY EYE, YOU MAY WANT A SOFT BROWN SMOKEY EYE. JUST SUBSTITUTE THE COLORS AS YOU PREFER.

The Goose Story

by Dr. Harry Clarke Noyes

Next
fall, when
you see Geese
heading South for
the Winter, flying along
in V formation, you might
consider what science has dis-
covered as to why they fly that way:
as each bird flaps its wings, it creates an
uplift for the bird immediately following. By
flying in V formation the whole flock adds at least
71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

(People who share a common direction and sense of community
can get where they are going more quickly and easily
because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.)

When
a goose falls
out of formation,
it suddenly feels the drag
and resistance of trying to go it alone
and quickly gets back into formation to take
advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.
If we have as much sense as a goose,
we will stay in formation
with those who are headed the same way we are.
When
the Head Goose
gets tired, it rotates back
in the wing
and another goose flies point.

(IT IS SENSIBLE, WHEN DOING DEMANDING JOBS, THAT WE TAKE TURNS AND ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER)

Geese
honk from behind to
encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Finally,
and this is important,
when a goose gets sick, or is
wounded by gunshots and falls out
of formation, two other geese fall out with that
goose and follow it down to lend help and protection.
They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly, or until
it dies. Only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation
to catch up with their group.

IF WE HAVE THE SENSE OF A GOOSE,
WE WILL STAND BY EACH OTHER LIKE THAT

Glam up Your Nautical Swimwear

Ladies for the past couple summer's it has been all about the patterns. Some people like to play it safe with solids because they may be afraid of patterns. This week our focus is on Nautical Stripes, and how women with different body types can wear one of this summers hottest trends.

Beauty tips: Horizontal Stripes can give a woman a very curvy illusion. Vertical stripes can slim you down. Horizontal stripes are a great way to flatter your natural curves. For women that are not interested in enhancement, aside from vertical stripes, adding a sarong around your hips can give you that extra coverage that sometimes we all may need. However if you comfortable in your suit, and feel beautiful, no sarong is necessary. Do not feel obligated to wear one just because you have curves.

Tas

Tas is wearing a Navy blue and white swim suit from Hot Miami Styles, Gold floral chain accessories from Forever 21, Blue feather earrings from a NY boutique, and a Gold Bangle from Forever21. On her face is eyeshadows from Coastal Scents creative Me #1 pallette and a silver glitter liner. Makeup is by Ashley. Photography is by Ashley.

Kia

Kia is wearing a black, white and gold striped swimsuit from H&M. Gold bangle accessories from an array of boutiques, and Gold hoop earrings from Macy's. She is wearing a brown smokey eye using matte shadows by MAC cosmetics, maybelline gel liner and a royal blue liquid liner by Jordana cosmetics. Make-up is by Ashley. Photography is by Tas.

Ashley

Ashley is wearing a navy blue, white, and yellow swimsuit by Nautica from Macy's, Silver watch by Guess?, necklace was gifted, bracelets are from H&M, and her Ring is from Hot Point Boutique. On her eyes are colors from Coastal Scents Creative Me #1 Pallette and a silver glitter liquid liner that can be found at any beauty supply store. Make-up is by Ashley. Photography is by Tas.

Affordable ways to achieve this look:

Buy a horizontal striped swimsuit at your local mall, Target, or Burlington coat factory (if there is one near you) Add stylish accessories to flatter the suit. These accessories can be found usually where you bought the swimsuit. (beware of wearing your expensive jewelry to the beach or pool, you do not want your valuable items to be lost or stolen.)
Using any of the makeup products above add a little color to you lids. Be sure to use a primer to ensure your color lasts as long as possible. If you choose to use a little mascara and eyeliner for a flirty look, be sure to choose water proof products. Instead of foundation which can be really cakey when combined with the perspiration produced by the heat, use a tinted moisturizer and a little concealer only if needed. If you want to be extra cautious, go with beauty products with an SPF of 15 to 75 for that needed protection against the suns harmful rays. Lip gloss, or any lip moisturizer will top it off and complete the look. For styling your hair for any beach or pool occasions, beachy waves are the go-to style that makes you look sexy, yet like you didnt try too hard. Be sure to use an anti humidity hair spray that can protect your hair from the moisture and humidity you will be surrounded by throughout the day. If you know you will be swimming, sporting your natural waves and curls will be your best bet. Ladies this can all be accomplished with 50 dollars or less depending on how you are budgeting.
